[1B05] Development of MgAl2O4-supported Iron-based catalyst to produce olefins by CO2 Hydrogenation
Keywords:Carbon dioxide hydrogenation, iron-based catalyst, olefin production
This study focused on olefin synthesis via a CO2-CO-FT pathway under atmospheric pressure. M/MgAl2O4 catalysts (M: Fe, Co, Ni, or Cu) were tested in H2/CO2 reaction to prepare olefins by a one-step reaction. As a result, it was found that the supported Co, Ni, and Cu catalysts mainly produced CO and CH4. In contrast, the Fe-based catalyst produced a significant amount of C2 and higher hydrocarbons. Therefore, we attempted to clarify the effect of adding a second metal component on the increasing activity of the Fe-based catalyst. We also found that the addition of K on the Fe-based catalyst improved the selectivity to olefins, and the addition of Cu promoted the formation of C2 and higher hydrocarbons.
