[1B14] Highly-efficient CO2 absorption by using aqueous diamine sorbent for direct air capture
Keywords:Direct air capture, isophorone diamine, carbamic acid
The liquid–solid phase separation phenomenon has potential for direct air capture (DAC), and we recently found that diamines bearing cyclohexyl group such as isophorone diamine (IPDA) show efficient CO2 removal from air. In this study, we tested various diamines bearing cyclohexyl group in aqueous solution for removal of 400 ppm CO2. IPDA maintained >90% CO2 removal from 400ppm CO2 for a long time with CO2/IPDA ratio of 1. We confirmed CO2 desorption from the white precipitate-contained aqueous solution at 363 K in N2 flow condition and absorption and desorption cycles could be repeated.
