[1C05] Effect of Amorphous Silica Modification of the Outer Surface of Zn-Supported ZSM-5 Catalyst on the Selective Synthesis of p-Xylene from Isobutanol
Keywords:biomass, Zeolite, p-xylene
The objective of this study was the high-yield synthesis of p-xylene from biobutanol by a one-step process, and the catalysts that enable this process were developed. Zn-supported ZSM-5 catalyst is generally used in this reaction system, but it is essential to suppress the isomerization reaction that proceeds at acid points near the outer surface of the catalyst. We attempted to suppress the xylene isomerization reaction and improve the p-xylene yield by modifying the outer surface of the catalyst with amorphous silica using polyphenylmethylsiloxane as the raw material.
