[2F13] Catalytic decomposition of polypropylene in heavy hydrocarbon solvents
Keywords:Chemical recycling, Zeolite Beta, Hydrocarbon solvents
We focused on chemical recycling as one of the recycling methods and aimed to convert waste plastics into petrochemical feedstock. We dissolved the waste plastics in hydrocarbon solvents to improve fluidity and remove undesirable substances and then performed catalytic decomposition. The heavy hydrocarbon solvents used were obtained from petroleum refining processes. Polypropylene (PP) was used as the plastic, and Beta zeolite was selected as the catalyst. We considered the effect of different types of hydrocarbon solvents on the PP conversion and the differences in decomposition products.
