The ray-wave correspondence in two-dimensional laser cavities is an interesting topic from a viewpoint of fundamental physics. Penrose cavities consisting of elliptical end-mirrors have a variety of ray trajectories. In this work, we obtained approximate solutions of the resonator modes corresponding to three kinds of stable periodic orbits (i.e., axial, diamond-shaped, and V-shaped orbits) using Gaussian beam optics. Then we calculated far field emission patterns for these resonator modes.
