[18p-PA3-8] Frequency dependence of surface acoustic wave sensor in degradation evaluation of engine oil

Kazuki Nakayama1, Jun Kondoh1 (1.Shizuoka Univ.)

Keywords:surface accoustic wave, engine oil

Engine oil is an important factor in automobiles. The timing of oil change is an important issue. Shear-wave surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) has advantages such as high sensitivity, low cost, small size, and wireless use. From these advantages, SH-SAW can be used as a simple and sensitive oil sensor. The sensitivity of the SH-SAW sensor depends on the frequency. So, in this research, we investigate the frequency dependency of SH-SAW sensor for degradation evaluation of automotive engine oil using SH-SAW sensor of 30 MHz and 155 MHz.
