Two-dimensional (2D) germananes are attracting a great deal interest due to their electronic and optical properties, in which it is expected to have as a direct band gap semiconductor. Recently, the hydrogen- and methyl-terminated layered germananes (GeH and GeCH3) are were prepared by topochemical deintercalation of layered calcium digermanide (CaGe2). The 2D GeCH3 shows a direct band gap of 1.82 eV as well as strong optical photoluminescence at 1.7 eV. So far, however, only a limited number of thin film fabrication techniques has been reported little liquid exfoliation techniques are developed in the for layered germananes.; The effective processing methods such as by liquid exfoliation will be requires required for their practical applications. Here, we report on preparation and liquid exfoliation of alkyl-terminated germananes (Ge-R), and their physical properties of Ge-R in thin films.
