Keywords:silica glass, devtrification

The devitrification mechanism of silica glass plate with putting on an NaCl grain, and a generation model for the devitrification were proposed. Molten NaCl expands over a circular range determined by the contact angle. Then the soda silicate glass layer is formed by the reaction of silica and NaOH formed by the reaction of NaCl and surface OH groups. The diameter of the molten NaCl shrinks by reducing the contact angle. At the next step, the soda silicate glass layer grows and the crystal layer grows in the soda silicate glass layer.
