Semiconductor nanoparticles (NPs) have physical properties different from those of bulk because they exhibit size-dependent characteristic properties. From the view point of optical properties, the photoluminescence energies and the optical constants of NPs can be controlled by their size, shape, and environment. On the other hand, the colloidal NPs can be readily coated onto different types of surfaces and geometries. From these properties, colloidal semiconductor NPs are expected to be a candidate as materials for novel optical thin films. The purpose of this study is to investigate the optical constants of colloidal ZnSe NPs multi-layered on a substrate.
