[1Ba03] Structural identification of the oxide surface of Nb(110) using atomic force microscopy
The high superconducting transition temperature of Nb is appreciated for device fabrications while the surface covered with oxide layers prevents preparation of a well-defined interface. Present atomic force microscopy observations clarified the surface atomic arrangement of both Nb and O. A surface model structure is proposed based on density functional theory calculations.
