[2P40] Reduction of iron phthalocyanine/graphene oxide composites using atmospheric pressure plasma

An iron phthalocyanine supported on graphene oxide (FePc/GO) was focused as an alternative catalyst of platinum. The FePc has a high ORR onset potential with less overpotential loss due to a four-electron reduction process. The dry reduction treatment of FePc/GO using atmospheric pressure plasma is proposed in this study without using chemicals in order to suppress the highly toxic to the human body and the environment. From the results of cyclic voltammetry, the onset voltage of the reduction peak for reduced-FePc/GO treated by atmospheric pressure plasma increased from 0.65 V vs. RHE to 0.77 V with increasing the treatment time. The electrical conductivity of FePc/GO was improved or Fe2+/Fe3+ ratio increased because the oxygen functional groups of FePc/GO were removed by the hydrogen atom radicals supplied from the plasma. This result indicates that the reduction treatment using atmospheric pressure plasma is effective to enhance the catalytic activity of FePc/GO.
