Individuals undertake both independent and joint activities/travel as part of their overall daily activity–travel patterns. Among all other activity types, social and leisure activities are different because of their high temporal and spatial flexibility. In this study we use data from a survey on joint eating-out leisure activity and estimate a destination choice model for joint eating-out. The survey data analysis found a moderate level of activity frequency and a small party size in terms of activity characteristics. The estimation results show that number of restaurants and travel distance significantly influence people’s destination choice for eating-out activity and joint model considering the utility function at the group level yields better model fit.
