1995年阪神・淡路大震災を契機に全国展開された強震観測網は、その後甚大な被害が発生した2011年東日本大震災、2016年熊本地震等においても貴重なデータを提供してきた。強震動研究はその強震観測データに基づく震源、地震波伝播、地盤震動解析を基礎として展開し、更には工学的利活用を視野に入れた強震動予測の高度化に資する研究が数多く行われてきた。最近では、地震本部で取り組まれている全国地震動予測地図に応答スペクトルの地震ハザード評価の導入に向けた動きもあり、強震動研究の成果が地震リスク評価や工学分野において、ますます活用されることが期待される。本セッションでは、被害地震に学び着実に進展してきた強震動研究25年を振り返ると共に、幅広い研究分野・世代からの発表を歓迎する。
