[060] A Study on the Effect of Local Social Vulnerability on Social Capital : Focused on estimating the physical environment using Deep Learning Technology
Keywords:Social Capital, Social Vulnerability Index, Deep Learning
Sustained interaction between residents sharing a place strengthens the community nature of the region. Community revitalization in the region has a positive impact on the interests of the community and the quality of life of the individual (Putnam, 1993; Taylor, 2000; Seo & Ha, 2009) by forming a network, enhancing trust, and establishing a set of norms. Social capital, a concept that comprehensively explains the interaction of residents, exists in a space where interactions occur, not in individuals or social structures, and therefore has heterogeneity between regions (Putnam, 2000; Kwak, 2007; KO, 2018). The more socially vulnerable the region is, the less accessible it is to physical and human capital (Lin, 1999). but there is a lack of research that specifically examines social capital and local vulnerabilities. Furthermore, there are difficulties in measuring and applying social vulnerabilities differently for each study. This study closely diagnoses the social and physical characteristics of Seoul area and derives the multidimensional social vulnerability index of Seoul. By doing so, the heterogeneity of social capital within the region is empirically analyzed. This study is meaningful in reconstructing social vulnerability indicators that have not been clearly defined in the past according to the situation in Korea and examining the relationship with social capital. This will serve as a basis for policymakers to revitalize local communities through social capital.
