我が国には多数の活断層があり、大都市直下のものも少なくない。活断層の地震では、強震動に加え、断層変位（ズレ、撓曲、傾動等）や断層近傍の長周期パルス波など、断層近傍に特徴的な現象が発生し、各種構造物に被害をもたらす可能性がある。しかしながら、特に一般の構造物に対しては断層変位対策が進んでいないのが現状である。本セッションでは、断層変位の特徴、対策事例、検討事例など、断層変位に関する最新の調査研究成果や事例を集約するとともに、断層変位対策を進める上で必要な情報提供のあり方について意見交換を行う。
