International Keynote Session

International Collaboration between Researchers and Engineers for Earthquake Disaster Reduction and Resilience Building for the Next 100 Years

Fri. Nov 24, 2023 10:55 AM - 12:25 PM Main Session Hall (PACIFICO Yokohama North, 4F G403+G404)

The academic society hosting the 16JESS is actively collaborating with international associations involved in earthquake engineering. Specifically, the JAEE has academic agreements with the Indonesian Earthquake Engineering Association (IEEA), the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering, Taiwan (NCREE) / Chinese Taiwan Society for Earthquake Engineering (CTSEE), and the Chapter on Earthquake and Wind Effects on Buildings and Structures in Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT).

In this edition of the symposium, we are honored to welcome keynote speakers from our academic partners abroad. The keynote speeches and panel discussions will focus on the theme of "International Collaboration between Researchers and Engineers for Earthquake Disaster Reduction and Resilience Building for the Next 100 Years." We aim to discuss various issues related to earthquake engineering faced by each country while aligning with the overall theme of the symposium, which is "Learning from the Past and Preparing for Increasingly Complex Extreme Disasters to Build a Sustainable Society."

We are implementing the symposium in a hybrid format, featuring both in-person and online participation, to accommodate as many researchers and engineers from Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan as possible. This will be a valuable opportunity to discuss what kind of international collaborations are currently considered and should be planned for the future by leading academic research organizations in the field of earthquake engineering. We especially look forward to the participation of young researchers and engineers who will support the future of earthquake engineering, and we invite people from all walks of life to join us.
