Switchable mirror thin films top-capped with Pd can transform their optical properties reversibly between reflective and transparent states based on the hydrogenation or the dehydrogenation. Switchable mirrors have attracted large interest as environmentally-friendly smart windows to control solar radiation. Therefore, applications are considered as windows of the building. Currently, one of the properties required strongly for these applications is high visible transmittance at the transparent state. In this study, switchable mirror thin films are deposited by reactive sputtering using hydrogen. Switchable mirror properties of the film deposited by reactive sputtering using hydrogen are improved.
