In past studies, irregular fluctuations of the optical absorption intensities in ultraviolet region were observed in fused quartz produced by melting of natural quartz powder. We assumed that the origin of the fluctuation of the optical absorption intensity caused by the striae, a singular refractive index curved planer. Then, we measured absorption coefficient in ultraviolet region and OH concentration were simultaneously measured with changing the measuring points in the specimen.
