The 28th Annual Meeting of Japan Society of Nursing Diagnosis

Greeting from the President

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your continual support of the Japan Society of Nursing Diagnosis. I also would like to pay tribute to all those involved in our country’s healthcare response to the COVID-19 infection, medical and nursing care, education, and welfare.
We are pleased to announce that the 28th Annual Meeting of Japan Society of Nursing Diagnosis will be held online from Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, as a joint event with the Sigma Asia Region of the Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing. We have hoped to interact with you in person, but with the COVID-19 outbreak still not under control, we decided to hold the meeting via the web to ensure everyone's safety and health first. The event will be held online on Saturday, July 16, 2022, and broadcast online from Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It will also be available on demand from July 16 (Sat) to August 23 (Tue), 2022.
The Society was first founded in 1991. At that time, it was called the Japan Nursing Diagnosis Research Association. In 1995, it was renamed as the Japan Society of Nursing Diagnosis. Nursing diagnosis is not merely to give a name to health issues but to indicate the process of nursing practice. Furthermore, nursing diagnosis and standardized terminologies in nursing have recently been applied in electronic medical record systems.
The theme of this meeting is "Nursing practice and terminologies used in person-centered care.” Low birthrates, a super-aging population, highly-fragmented medical care, and complex health issues means that we need to manage care through interdisciplinary collaboration with patients, as well as with patients, clients, other service users, nursing home residents, and their families. In this meeting, we will provide an opportunity to reflect terminologies on nursing practice and nursing profession for person-centered care. Moreover, we will also explore diagnosis terminologies from an international perspective.
The program will include the topics on nursing records in hospital information systems, nurses’ role, clinical reasoning, and many other topics, of which I am sure will be informative for future nursing practice, education, and research. We will share information and research about nursing practice and terminology from NANDA International, Association for Common European Nursing Diagnoses, Interventions and Outcomes (ACENDIO), and Asia Region of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
In July 2022, with COVID-19, we would like to exchange with you about nursing practices and terminology with a focus on person-centered care. The Planning and Organizing committee members sincerely look forward to your participation in the meeting, making new connections and deepening existing collegial bonds.
