[3Ca05] Electrochemical measurement techniques for the evaluation of 3D cell models
In recent drug discovery and regenerative medicine research, three-dimensional cultured cells, which can better mimic biological functions, are increasingly being used as biological models, and there is a growing need for techniques that can assess these models non-destructively. Taking advantage of low invasiveness and real-time measurements, we have been evaluating 3D cultured cells using electrochemical sensors/systems that we have developed, mainly focusing on the measurement of cellular respiratory activity. In this talk I will present our research and recent developments in the fusion of 3D cultured cells and electrochemical measurements, and their application to microphysiological systems.
