Overcoming intractable diseases such as cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and infectious diseases is a major research topic. Both industry and academia continue to conduct research aimed at establishing preventive and therapeutic methods for intractable diseases. Private enterprises is also actively engaged in applied research using clinical specimens, and researches are being conducted to elucidate the mechanisms of disease onset and to identify drug target molecules. Industry–Academia collaborative research will bring great results in translating research findings into clinical practice. In this symposium, researchers from industry and academia will discuss research results from their respective standpoints and consider the future direction of industry-academia collaboration.
