[S25] Frontiers of Research on Self-Assembly for Drug Discovery

Fri. Mar 29, 2024 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM [Room 419] Conference Center 419 (4F)

Organizer: Takahiro Mori (Grad. Sch. Pharm. Sci., The Univ. of Tokyo)

Self-assembly is a commonly found phenomenon in nature from small molecules to macromolecule such as biopolymers and proteins. These interactions are important for various biological processes, including expression of enzyme activity, efficient metabolic reactions, encapsulation of nucleic acids, and drug delivery. Research on the analysis and application of self-assembling interactions have attracted attention in the field of protein science.
In this symposium, five young researchers in the field of protein science will present their latest results. This symposium covers the front line of a broad range of medicinal chemistry researches, including design of enzymes, prediction of protein structures, functional and structural analysis of protein-protein interaction of biosynthetic enzymes, and biotechnological and medicinal application of self-assembling proteins. These topics can bring renewed attention to this research field, and would enhance an expansive cross-cutting research for the future of pharmaceutical science.
