[S42] Graduation Research: To Cultivate a Scientific Spirit of Inquiry

The learning objectives for pharmaceutical research in the 2022 revised version of the Model Core Curriculum for Pharmacy Education are to acquire problem-discovery and problem-solving abilities necessary for research that contributes to the development of pharmaceutical science and medical care through scientific inquiry, and to understand the basic attitude required in research and then cultivate the qualities to carry out one's own research scientifically, ethically, and humanely. In order to achieve this learning goal, many teachers will continue to use their creativity and ingenuity in their graduation research. In this symposium, six teachers work in different research fields are invited. First, Dr.Tomoyo Kamei, Dr. Takeshi Kumagai, Dr. Kosuke Ohara, Dr. Hitomi Hasegawa, and Dr. Rieko Takehira will present their teacher communication and interaction with students to achieve the learning goals of graduation research in each research fields. Finally, Professor Etsuko Arita will introduce the results of an awareness survey on how to perceive graduation research targeting pharmacy students who have not yet started their graduation research and community pharmacists who have experienced graduation research. At the end of the symposium we would like to have discussions to aim for better graduation research with not only with the teachers but also with the students in the audience.
