With the diversification of modalities, small molecules and natural products are being recognized as an important group of molecules. Meanwhile, the development of new chemical reactions is also gaining momentum, and the chemical space for synthetic molecules is expanding. The International Symposium was organized with the aim of promoting research aimed at the creation of next-generation small- and medium-molecular medicines that actively utilize these current conditions and transcend existing frameworks. Co-organized by the Organic Chemistry Division and the Medicinal Chemistry Division of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan, the international symposium will focus on the interface between cutting-edge synthetic organic chemistry and cutting-edge medicinal chemistry, and will be held in English with four Japanese invited speakers. Furthermore, following this international symposium, we will invite Prof. Alois Fürstner (Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, Germany), a distinguished researcher in the field of organic chemistry, to give a special lecture. Therefore, the International Symposium and the Special Lecture are combined as one set of consecutive international symposia. By providing an international forum where cutting-edge chemistry can be discussed, we aim to contribute to the development and enlightenment of pharmaceutical research in these fields.
