[S68] Research connecting universities and medical practices
Sun. Mar 31, 2024 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM [Room 304] Conference Center 304 (3F)
Organizer: Makoto Hiraide (Hoshi Univ.), Takeo Yasu (Meiji Pharm. Univ.)
The Model Core Curriculum for Pharmaceutical Education revised in 2022 calls for greater collaboration between universities and the medical field in terms of education and research. Under such circumstances, we believe that the role of practitioner faculty members who have been active in the medical field is important for the establishment of a clinical pharmacy educational system. Practitioner faculty members generally have at least 5 years of experience as pharmacists and are expected to be involved in education and research in their respective areas of expertise as well as teach practical training. Therefore, it is essential for practitioner faculty members to improve their professional and research skills even upon leaving the field of practice, and they must strive to maintain and improve upon their practical skills and knowledge. Collaboration between universities and medical practice is essential to producing high-quality pharmacists. This symposium will provide an opportunity to introduce specific examples of education and research by practitioner faculty members that link medical practice sites and universities and discuss efforts to maintain and improve upon the skills and knowledge of practitioner faculty members as pharmacists.
