[S70] Death Investigation and Pharmacists -An Approach to Pharmacy Education-: A Symposium Proposed by the Committee on Standard Methods of Chemical Analysis in Poisoning, Division of Pharmaceutical Health Sciences and Environmental Toxicology, the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan

The Basic Act for the Promotion of Death Investigation has been enacted. Death Investigation Promotion Program, which describes detailed methods for the promotion of the law, calls for the enrichment of content related to the death investigation in pharmaceutical education. As a result, the 2022 revision of the Core Curriculum includes a new learning objective on the death investigation. It is necessary to deepen the understanding of faculty members in charge of this subject. In this symposium, Kubo, who contributed to the enactment of the law, will explain the background of the law and how pharmaceutical education was included in the plan. Tomizawa will talk about the current state of pharmacists' contact with patients' deaths from the perspective of a pharmacist who actively participates in home healthcare. One of the organizers, Numazawa, will explain the editorial status and use in the death investigation of "Standard Methods of Chemical Analysis in Poisoning –With Commentary– 2025," a revised edition of which is scheduled for publication in the spring of 2025. In addition, Kamijo will explain the educational content of acute drug intoxication in pharmacy schools from the perspective of an emergency physician. These contents will allow for a deeper discussion of the role of Standard Methods of Chemical Analysis in the death investigation and to promote awareness and understanding among faculty members involved in pharmacy education.
