[S30] Approaches to improving human extrapolation of drug evaluation methods

In drug discovery, one of the important issues in pharmacokinetic and safety pharmacology studies at the non-clinical stage is to predict the in vivo performance of drugs with a high degree of accuracy. In order to consider the pharmacokinetics, toxicity, and safety of drugs, quantitative prediction of drug effects in vivo, especially in humans, has been attempted based on the results of in vitro experiments using cells, etc. The use of human-derived cells and the development of in silico prediction methods are improving human predictability. In order to further improve the accuracy and reliability of prediction, it is necessary to develop advanced evaluation systems using in vitro to in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE) models and microphysiological systems (MPS) that mimic the biological environment. In this symposium, researchers who are working on approaches to improve human extrapolation of drug evaluation methods will give an overview of the latest methods from their unique perspectives.
