[S64] Pharmaceutical research arising from clinical needs - challenges to medicine by harmonization and integration of "clinical" and "formulation" -

Sun. Mar 31, 2024 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM [Room 301] Conference Center 301 (3F)

Organizer: Atsushi Uchida (Yamanashi Univ. Hospital), Tsutomu Shimada (Kanazawa Univ. Hospital Pharm.)

In recent years, medical technology has made remarkable progress, and it has led to provision of various medical care. In clinical practice, clinical needs for higher quality medical care have arisen in pharmacotherapy, and some of these needs include formulation related issues. In this symposium, pharmaceutical researchers from both medical and academic fields will present the current clinical needs and their pharmaceutical approaches to meet these clinical needs and solve these problems. In the first half, pharmacists will introduce the issues and current issue in clinical practice and examples of formulation research from medical practice, and academic researchers will talk about how to understand clinical needs, the latest findings on formulation development and research for solving clinical problems. After these presentations, we would like to discuss with audience the know-how on formulation approaches to meet clinical needs, and future vision for social implementation of research findings. We hope that this symposium will contribute to accurately grasp the needs arising from clinical practice and solve the clinical problems by pharmaceutical approaches, leading to the further progress of medical technology and the establishment of strategies for drug discovery and development.
