[2D02] Burying International Development (Studies) for its Regeneration: For Global Sustainability Beyond Generations
Keywords:International Development (Studies), Developing Countries, Japan, De/Reconstruction, Sustainability
This session is a collaboration between the Research x Practice Committee and the Local Development Committee. These two committees have developed their activities from the standpoint of looking at development (studies) from the perspective of social issues and social transformation. All three presenters (Sato, Kimata, Kobayashi) graduated from universities in the 1990s and have been involved in international development (studies) from the standpoints of research, practice, and practice. In the process, they have realized that Japan's position is changing, and they feel that a drastic restructuring is essential for the survival of development studies. In this session, we will discuss the following questions with the participants: "Can international development (studies) only deal with developing countries?”, “If not, how can we make agendas for related research and practices otherwise?”, and “What can be actual agendas of “reborn” International Development (Studies) that concern global sustainability beyond generations?”.
