Chairman: Junya Kano (Tohoku University)
Keywords:supercritical fluid process, hydrothermal process, battery materials, lithium ion battery, nanomaterials
Supercritical fluid- hydrothermal processes are quite promising technology for synthesizing advanced battery materials such as nanocrystalline electrodes, graphene or other two dimensional sheet compounds by low cost, mass-productive and capable of size control. For, example, lithium ion battery nanocrystalline electrodes such as LiFePO4 can be produced under moderate temperature and short reaction time (4℃,1min.). Also, direct exfoliation of graphite crystal to graphene sheet materials are possible under high pressure fluid conditions. In this presentation, high application potential of supercritical fluid- hydrothermal processes are discussed for low cost and mass production of advanced battery materials such as monodispersed nanocrystalline polyanion compounds(LiMPO4, Li2MSiO4, LiMPO4F: (M= Fe, Mn, Co), spinel oxides (LiMn2O4, MgM2O4), rocksalt (LiCoO2) and two dimensional sheet materials of MoSe2, MoS2 and graphene.
