[2801-14-09] Simulation study of hindered-settling separation process using simulated samples

In order to study the separation characteristics of the hindered-settling column for middle-size coal particles, simulated samples were fabricated using high-density engineering plastics and separation tests were conducted using these samples. Simulated samples were prepared using Acetal with a specific gravity of 1.4 and CN-0240MB with a specific gravity of 1.9. In order to facilitate the separation after the experiment, magnetite powder was mixed to make magnetism in CN-0240MB sample preparation. The particle size was adjusted to 0.2-0.5 mm and 0.5-1 mm using a cutting mill and sieves. A wetting agent was used to hydrophilize the particle surface. The results showed good compatibility with the previously studied hindered-settling separation models. However, the effect of particle size was relatively larger than that of model, and the error caused by small-size equipment was also large.
