[PE1-004] Separation of Ash from Carbonized Automobile Shredder Residue (ASR) by Froth Flotation
キーワード:automobile shredder residue, froth flotation, char, ash, separation process
A high amount of ash contained in carbonized Automobile Shredder Residue (ASR) under 1 mm size demands a better separation method to increase its carbon content. In this study, froth flotation using agitated-type rectangular flotation cell was utilized. ASR char produced by carbonization at 400oC was quarter-sampled and characterized to know its initial composition. Gravimetric analysis showed that 23% of the original char sample was a combustible carbonaceous material.
Prior to flotation experiment, pulverization using ball mill followed by sieving were performed in order to liberate carbonaceous material from ash particle. A repeated washing also conducted to remove chlorine content. From these treatments, the pre-concentration of carbon up to 62% for -25 µm ASR char and the removal of 72 % chlorine content was observed.
In flotation experiment, kerosene and Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol (MIBC) was used as collector and frother. The optimum result of 73% carbon grade at 77% recovery was obtained at 3 mg/g kerosene, 0.5 ml/L MIBC, 10% pulp density and -25 µm char size. At this condition, the removal of 55% of ash content also achieved
