[PE1-050] Electrophoretic deposition of Ni/SiC for catalytic cracking of methane
キーワード:Electrophoretic deposition, Silicon carbide, methane cracking
This study has been conducted for the electrophoretic deposition of Ni/SiC on Ni foam for catalytic cracking of methane at different pH conditions of electrolyte. A well-dispersed suspension containing β-SiC nanoparticles in the watts bath (NiSO4: 240g/l, NiCl2: 45g/l, H3BO3: 30g/l) was prepared for electrochemical characteristics analysis. According to the cyclic voltammetry and the zeta potential measurements, the electrodeposition of metallic nickel from electrolyte containing Ni2+ was occurred at a potential of < -0.42 V (vs. Ag/AgCl reference electrode). Surprisingly, an increase in electrolyte conductivity was detected with an increase in SiC concentration. It was shown that the electrical conductivity and the deposition rate of SiC nanoparticles tend to decrease with increasing of electrolyte pH. The efficiency of the as prepared Ni/SiC catalyst for the methane gas cracking was tested in the quartz pipe in the 25-300 oC temperature range
