[PE1-074] Preparation of high purity nickel metal from waste nickel plating solution

Nickel plating has been applied to many industrial fields such as semiconductor, PCB and automobile parts as the electronic industry develops.
Nickel sludge of high concentration generated after plating is recycled as nickel metal, but nickel waste solution of low concentration after plating is discarded without recycled due to economical problem. Also, it is difficult to recover nickel due to the high organic additive added plating waste solution.
In this study, we have researched nickel recovery after solving the problem of nickel plating waste solution.
Nickel plating waste solution was adjusted to pH to remove Fe and Cu and Zn and Al were removed using an ion exchange resin. The nickel plating waste solution with impurities removed was made of nickel carbonate by adding sodium carbonate to remove organic matter. The prepared nickel carbonate was used as a pH maintenance for electrolytic nickel solution and as a raw material for electrowinning. Through such research, we have produced 99.9% of high purity nickel.
