[PE1-079] Selective recovery of tungsten from tungsten carbide scrap by using mechanochemical reaction with alkali hydroxide

The soft scrap of WC oxidized thermally at 600 oC was subjected to grinding with alkali hydroxides for occurring mechanochemical reaction followed by water leaching, to establish effective recycling process. Na2WO4 can be synthesized through MC reaction between the oxidized scrap and Na2CO3 shall be even formed with an increase of mixing ratio of NaOH, and these synthesized compounds have water-soluble characteristic. In the case of mixture ground in the mixing ratio of NaOH as 1:0.5, 99.2 % of W can be extracted through water leaching while the extraction of Co was limited coincidentally to 3.57 % in the same conditions.
