[PE1-079] Selective recovery of tungsten from tungsten carbide scrap by using mechanochemical reaction with alkali hydroxide

The soft scrap of WC oxidized thermally at 600 ^oC was subjected to grinding with alkali hydroxides for occurring mechanochemical reaction followed by water leaching, to establish effective recycling process. Na₂WO₄ can be synthesized through MC reaction between the oxidized scrap and Na₂CO₃ shall be even formed with an increase of mixing ratio of NaOH, and these synthesized compounds have water-soluble characteristic. In the case of mixture ground in the mixing ratio of NaOH as 1:0.5, 99.2 % of W can be extracted through water leaching while the extraction of Co was limited coincidentally to 3.57 % in the same conditions.
